I run a small business and had been using TeleCheck for 10 years until one day I discovered they also charged the same fee to checks that they would not guarantee including amount over the ceiling limit. When a check get declined by TeleCheck, merchants were encouraged by their sale reps to ask customer for another ID (e.G., visas, matercards, discovercards, driver lics, etc.). Whether second ID resulted in approval or decline, the merchant would be charged with a second service fee. Happened a few times that first ID resulted in decline but second ID went thought.in other words, TeleCheck can decline your customers' checks all the time without any risk to them but you got charged every time you use it even if it is the same check, amount and check writer. I don't know whether TeleCheck has changed their policy now. But I will not deal with them. Period.
