First Investors Corporation
Total SALES job. Stay AWAY. They will make you Interview FOR HOURS! Scam!

Here is the truth.

I put my resume on I received a call from first investors to interview with them. I showed up to the interview where there were smiling faces and a nice man named Steve to shake my hand. This is the moment they began to sell this SALES job to me. At first you will sign in on a sign in sheet (in my case I interviewed with these 2 frat boys fresh out of college and a blond chick who looked like she didn't know if she was at an interview or a hair salon). However, they still did an unbelievable job of making me think that I should work there. Then this Girl named XXXX comes in and congratulates you on being invited to the interview because to quote her words exactly "we have reviewed literally hundreds of resumes". Ok so already I feel like I am being told something that is either 1. A bold faced lie or 2. A salesman trying to sell something to me. For the next hour little miss XXXX will tell you about how you will make 6 figures in like a year and they will take you to the Bahamas all expenses paid and tell you that you are doing a good thing because you are a FINANCIAL ADVISER who meets with there clients at their homes. I tried to ask a simple question like "What should a normal REPRESENTATIVE (Because that is what they call you) plan on making there first year?" This was the first time little mis XXXX did not have a straightforward answer for me and said that she would get that information later. Sooooo you don't know what a 1st year rep averages but you have the entire day by day activities of the corporate party at the end of the fiscal year memorized?

I hope at this point you are starting to see what I am getting at. Does this not see like a little smoke and mirrors put up?

OK lets go on. At this point little miss XXXX will ask some questions like "Do you like helping people like teachers and cops?" or "Would you rather work for a company that promotes because of politics or output?" Then they will take you into a separate room and sit you down with one of the Managers. After typical rinterview questions for like 5 minutes they will invite you to a second interview and to tell you the truth I was ACTUALLY EXCITED for the second interview.

OHHH WAIT I forgot something! Ohhh yeah you have to take a test to get licensed that costs min of $600.00 and you will pick that up. Your first month is UN PAID but its cool they'll say because you will be trained by a mentor who's job it is to get you to pass the test and start making money.

Now the second interview. Another 1.5 hours of stories about how much money you will make and the car you can buy (Boiler Room anyone?) and a final interview with another manager where they will literally ask you if you know people in the state that you can talk to, IE. Friends and family. This "final" Interview lasts like 15 min.

In the end I was offered the job after little miss XXXX called me at 5:30 pm and sounded like she was reading off a script. She then said I needed to to get a pen and paper and be in the next day at 2pm. I was currently at a bar with my girlfriend when I got the call and asked her politely to e-mail what I would need and she refused. So I went out to my Truck and dealt with it because little miss XXXX could not possibly wait 1 second or just e-mail me what info, etc, I needed to bring in.

If you get offered the job expect to pay the fee for the test up front and in CASH the next day you report to "work".

I went into First Investors with high hopes and excitement. I was greeted with smoke and mirrors and promptly declined the job the next morning after finally understanding what they were all about.

You are, in fact, a SALESMAN. NOTHING MORE.

- no benefits AT ALL
- You will pay for ALL YOUR EXPENSES (car, gas, etc.)
- Please do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY

Ask yourself 1 question if in fact you do get hired by them...

If they need you so bad and they reviewed so many resumes and chose you; then why do they ask you to bring them cash the next day for the test? Can a huge company not fit the bill for a little old test?

Hope this info helps in your job search
