CapitalFirst offered me a Master Card with 0% on July 10. Upon questioning, she assured me it was legitimate and that they were not screwing their customers like other credit card companies. There was a 29.95 processing/activation fee and I had 30 days to cancel after reviewing my packet. I agreed to reveiw the packet but told her I was not interested in the other services for 99.95 and 55.95. She assured me I could cancel and keep the card. I know, it sounds too good to be true. Well, it was.
I didn't receive a packet until August 22, upon which I reveiwed the packet and called them to cancel on August 27 within the seven days. I was told they would cancel it and there did not seem to be a problem. Then I looked at my bank statement and the 99.95 and 55.95 had been taken out back on August 2 before I ever received the packet.
Today, I called the number and explained my situation. I was told that the last time they went into my account was the end of July. I stated that I had called on August 27th and canceled with the individuals name. He said, oh ya there is a note here that says you canceled and were told about the repercussions of the pay as you go Master Card. Not, what reprocussions? Also, I questioned, " Pay as you go" she never stated that's what it was.
I had called within 7 days of receiving my packet yet they took the membership fee and processing fees out August 2nd. I would have to write the Corporate office. I asked if I could call, he said no, you have to write directly even though I was talking to a Customer Service Rep. At the corporate office. Also, proof of the debit, like your bank statement showing when they took the money out. I will write them but that does not help me financially now. Also, I have to change my bank account to ensure they do not try to get more.
