When I first spoke to one of the Reps. From SMC, I was told SMC had a special going on at that time and I could join for one (1) month for only $29.00. This guy had me on the phone for a very long time and since I knew our conversation was being recorded (according to the announcement), I asked several times if that was all I was being charged. The rep. Agreed with me about only charging me $29.00 on my debit card.
He also told me that it was a one time deal and if I did not join at that time, I could not join at all!
"A ONE TIME SHOT" according to him!
I never received the Membership package they were supposed to send me and it wasn't until I got a call from "MY COACH" is when I realized I was a member!
I immediately got online and talked to a CHAT REPRESENTATIVE. That was when I learned they took $214.95 out of my account! I told this rep. I NEVER authorized the payment!
I finally received my membership package AFTER calling to discuss and dispute the amounts they charged me!
All together... They "unlawfully and without my permission took... $214.95 for the MEMBERSHIP fee - $29.95 for the MONTHLY fee.
I contacted SMC BEFORE the 30 days were over and I told them I wanted to cancel my membership and get out of SMC COMPLETELY! I did what they said to do and I FAXED them my cancellation letter, but they still have not refunded my money!!! All together it cost me...$570.75
I had to pay for faxing my cancellation letter which was $6.00 - $19.85 to return the membership package and on top of it all... Was charged an over-dradt fee from my bank since I did not have the available funds in my account!!!
I am Disabled and only receive a small amount each month. I thought by joining SMC, it might help enrich my life and improve my financial problems, but instead... They stole my money and left me broke!!!
