On, November 9th, I recieved a phone call, while at work, regarding a check which had been returned for insufficient funds. The check was written on 10/18/07. The account rep, Jenna Gray, began providing me with the info I needed to address the matter. She started by stating I needed to go to western union and I interuppted and asked her if that was going to add an additional fee and she said "I'll get to to that later". I asked if I could just mail a money order and she said that it was too late for that.
I took the information and she then asked me when I would be sending the money. She wanted and exact time. When I clarified this with her, she reiterated that she did want an exact time. I told her I could not give her a "time" and she proceeded to badger me for a time.
She then went into a barage of personal insults indicating that I needed to prioritize and take care of my business. Her demeanor was so confrontiational, that I told lher I was at work and hung up.
I then tried to call the number to ask for a supervisor to clarify what the rep had told me. There was no answer.
In the mean time, I received a payment envelope in the regular mail.
On the 15th of November, I received another call from the same rep and when she started being disrespectful again, I again hung up. I called back and asked her to transfer me to her supervisor. After being disconnect once and calling back, the supervisor came on and started up with the same insults.
I told him I was trying to make the arrangements to pay the $31 check and fee and that I asked for a superviser because I did not wish to be spoken to the way the acct manager was talking to me. He then starting making remarks that it had been over 31 days (it had not) and that he could see the kind of person that he was dealing with. Extremely rude, disrespectful and again confrontational. It was almost like they wanted to provoke me into saying something crazy. I again hung up.
Because I could not believe the conversation I just had, I looked on the internet and began to get worried about possible retaliation. I have every intension of taking care of this error and have no problem with any special procedure they have as long as it is limited to the amount of check and the nsf fee. What I do have a problem with is being strong armed into paying for an unnecessary costs just so that they can get their cash money asap. I also have a problem with the hostility and intimidation. Geez, I felt like I was dealing with the Mob.
After reading other accounts, I plan to close my account to avoid other service fees or resubmition of already paid amounts.
