Complaint / Review
Liberty Mutual
Stole policy premiums

They (corporate and, more specifically, one of their McHenry County branches) retained and deposited more than $5K in insurance premium dollars (home, auto, umbrella rider, life, disability, etc.) then (despite several requests from me) they refused to issue / renew any policies for which those dollars were directly paid. I then requested that my monies be returned to me; I was refused yet again.

I can file this in small claims court and receive $10K in damages (their actions constitute breach of contract, which grants me three times actual damages). However; as their actions also constitute fraud, theft, and (among other things) violate the Illinois Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act, and as several persons mishandling my monies might be individually culpable, my attorney and I are weighing the pros, cons and timelines of pursuing a larger lawsuit.

Although I have chosen at this time to not fully reveal my identity, I have provided enough information that the Liberty Mutual personnel involved with this matter can realize who filed this report and they can (if they choose to do so) make this right voluntarily and without a judgment against their company. My state and country are correct; my attorney advised me that (even if I just use small claims court) prematurely announcing my identity in a public forum like this could be bad strategy for my case. I'll update my posts as this matter evolves.

Any insights, thoughts, ideas, etc. Are most welcome.
