To anyone out there who has been contacted by this collection company, be carefull... Very very carefull as to what to say and how much personal info you give them over the phone. They filed a judgment in suffolk county new york against me without notifiying me. I was never asked to appear in court for a dept I owed with Avco Finance. Needless to say they are asking more then double of what I owed. See the other reports about this company. They have a history of dipping into your bank account without notification. If you must call them, use a calling card so that your home phone number dosen't show up on caller ID and don't give in to the repeated request for a contact phone number or address, name location or anything else. Once they have your phone number they will ring your ass off day and night! If you owe a dept that they purchased and you want to settle it to get it off your credit report make sure you have them send you a letter of aggrement reflecting the account name and account number, amount settled on and ask that the account be reported to the credit agencys as paid in full. If they send you a letter of aggrement then make sure you send them a check from a seperate account in a different bank then the one you hold all your money in! Once they have recived payment, they must upon your request send you a letter of satifaction stateing that the dept has been paid. It sounds like alont of bother but protect yourself with this dept company becasue they don't play nice and will go directly to your back pocket for the change!
