Bank Of America
Bank of America should be brought up on charges!

On the weekend of 08/25/07 I had used my "Visa" debit card to purchase many items. Many of them under $10.00. My family and I were moving to Colorado from Florida and I didn't like carrying a lot of cash.

On Sunday 08/26/07, I was able to get to a wireless hot spot to check my balance and discovered that I had spent about $133.00 over my balance with 27 "Pending" charges.

On Sunday 08/26/07, the same day, I IMMEDIATELY transferred enough money to cover the debt from my wifes account, which is BOA, into mine. This is supposed to be an "Immediate" Transfer. It even specifies this much on they're website.

The balance now showed positive.

On Monday 08/27/07, I checked the balance again. It now showed minus $133.00 with NO transaction of the transfer that I made from my wifes account.

I figured I give them a day to sort this out.

On Tuesday 08/28/07, I check again only to see that my balance was now minus $177.00 with 5 overdrafts and my transfer @ $35.00 each.

Two days after I made the transfer, it shows up. Of course a day later than the 27 "Pending" charges cleared.

When I called BOA, they could have cared less and wanted nothing to do with me or my explanation. Would not even consider the fact they messed up.

I told them to cancel my account immediately and they said they cannot cancel an account with a negative balance, and that if I didn't pay them they would report me to some institution, I can't remember the name, that would prevent me from ever getting a bank account again.

Am I missing something here? This seems like thievery to me.

Why is it that when a company like BOA, and they're not the only ones, can add on whatever charges they feel fit, tell you if you don't pay we'll screw up your credit worthiness, and there is NOTHING we can do about it?

Either pay them or suffer the consequences?

Surely there has to be a way of combating this type of behavior outside of the court system.

I mean... Who has the resources to fight a company like BOA in court? Especially over $200.00! Not the average customer.

I'm at a loss as what to do. I'll pay the balance because I have no choice at this point, but I will keep on searching for a way to stop this MADNESS!

I'm just one person. No telling how many people besides me they're doing this to.
