Several weeks ago I began receiving calls from NCO, with generic voicemails stating that they are collecting a debt. They didn't say who they were looking for, and checking my credit report confirmed that my accounts are definitely not in collections.
After reading about this company on this site, Bud Hibbs' article, and this article (http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/379575/nco_financial_systems_incorporated.html)
I decided I'd better be careful in dealing with them. So...
I did not speak with them on the phone. At all. I sent them a letter through certified mail, stating that I believe I am not the person they are looking for me, and I am exercising my rights under the credit collection laws to request that they stop calling me. I actually got the signature card back in the mail, and the phone calls have apparently stopped. Just wanted to share this here so people will know that it is possible to defend yourself.
