Basically I placed an ad.in a magazine and there was a dispute on the amount owed. We came to an agreement and the debt was cleared and has never been on my credit. This was approx. 3-4 years ago. Just last week this company sends me a letter, the first and only one, to say that I owe them $2,084.87. I ask why and told them that this was paid. They said the reported this to the credit agencies on 9/27/07 and that I need to pay them.
I want someone to go after these people. They think they can just ding my credit with no recourse. I am a mortgage broker and know how these "people" work they try to intimidate people into paying old invocies or bills because they know that there is little chance that I will have proof that this was paid.
I will report them etc. Through the bureaus etc. But if anyone has any ideas how to make them feel some pain instead of the consumer please let me know.
Thanks,
