Harrassing Phone Call

This morning I received an automated call from NCO to please call a Deb somebody at an 800 number (800-432-3988). I call back and of course there is no DEb somebody. A very rude woman comes on, reads back my SSN, and proceeds to tell me that I have an outstanding debt of 8000 plus dollars to a Chase Providian acct, that I never heard of. She did say that I opened this acct.in 1985, and made my last payment in 1993.

Of course, trying to reason with them or state your position is an absolute waste of time. She told me that I was ruining my credit and that the calls would continue. She wouldn't give her name but abruptly hung up on me.
