Desceptive collection tactics for illigetimate debts Ripoff

JC Christensen sent a Notice of Collection statement to me, supposedly on behalf of Wells Fargo Card Services, whom we bank with. They wanted $154 dollars for some past debt the Card Services company could not collect. The used words like this is a serious debt..., they are taking recovery of this debt seriously..., your obligation to this debt will not go away...

The letter looked official enough, but when I contacted Wells Fargo, they said NO WAY! This is a scam and do nothing further with this Minnesota collection agency. They have a history of fraudulent tactics - DO NOTHING!

The closing comments on this notice say "unless you notify this office within 30 days after recieving this notice that you dispute the validity of this debt or any portion thereof, this office will assume this debt is valid.

This trick is in the final sentence: "If you request this office in writing within 30 days after receiving this notice this office will provide you with the name and address of the original creditor, if different from the current creditor".

Wells Fargo is not the creditor, even though JC Christensen said they were. That is a bogus ploy to get your attention. On the phone, JC Christensen refused to offer who the actual creditor is. I believe there is a serious crime taking place with this company in regards to small dollar rip-offs of unsuspecting credit card users.

Somehow they got our card number, but their information was all wrong.
