Ripoff New Customer Welcome? I received a funny letter in the mail today. It was from ASSSSet Acceptance Corporation no pun intended the SSSSS key sticksss sssometimessss haha!

The letter states: It is our pleasure to welcome you as a new customer of Asset Acceptance LLC. Your account with the above mentioned creditor has been purchased and is now owned by Asset Acceptance LLC.

Funny thing is I am not a new customer. This is an old debt with Target on an account that was closed way more than 6 years ago but I have no proof of that. When I called Target to find out when the account was sent to collection they told me they are not allowed to disclose this to me. He said something about the contract they had with the agency that bought the debt. So I believe that the SOL has passed but cannot prove. Also, is ASSSSSET trying to pull a fast one by sending me some welcome new customer letter?
