I am writing this in hopes that others out there like me know that they are not alone. I have been banking at US Bank for 4 years and have had 3 major, and 1 minor incident with them over my account. I was an Accountant for 22 years and do not make errors in my bank account.
The first incident was them charging me with $300.00 in overdraft fees when I had a positive balance. They agreed to eat that charge. A year later another incident only this time they agreed to eat half the fees and I pay the rest; even though again I could show my debits and credits balancing.
The 3rd incident was about 6 months ago... I had a balance of over $100.00 and they showed a negative balance of $387.00. They claimed that they charged only per item they paid but they were lying; they charged $37.00 per day!!!
I again sat down with the lady and this time she was very rude and told me (who is on SSI and disabled with cancer) needed to come up with all I could. I begrudjingly took out a $250.00 payday loan (which I still have to pay and take back out every month to cover bills) and the bank ate the rest with the warning that they won't help again.
This past weekend I had a balance of $129.68 and went camping I spent $60.00 when I came home my balance was $60.00!!! I made a deposit of $30.00 and $60.00. They conveniently lost the $60.00 deposit and I went into the bank receipt in hand. We went through all transactions and agrred on all but the balance. After much argument I told them I'd eat the lost money except for the $60.00 which they did credit.
This angers me still because money is still unaccounted for. I do not have the income to keep up with their mistakes and plan to sue and switch banks. While there, 2 women were arguing over the same problem in their accounts. One of them told me outside that she had hundreds of dollars in the bank but they assessed her account $387.00 or so in fees. They took her child support, pension check and payroll check and could not explain the original error to her.
My hope is that there are others in the same boat that might consider a class action suit against this bank. If so please respond to this report with your contact information and I'll talk to my attorney.
If nothing else comes out of this, I hope at least others know they are not alone and mountains can be moved when you have the numbers!
