Held up funds for no apparent reason, acting like a real bank? Ripoff

I too was blatently ripped off by wanna-be bank greendot.
After a fiend suggested I should look into a greendotcard
to have my tax refund in a much faster time, as I could have the I.R. S Just direct deposit it.

But before I went out there & just bought a card I called their customer service dept. Just getting them on the phone was feat in itself, anyway, the girl there Informed me, " OH YEAH, NO PROBLEM, AS LONG AS THE DEPOSIT IS IN THE CARDHOLDERS NAME.

So I bought a card and filed my taxes, the refund was in the account before I even got my greendot visa in the mail. Anyway the deposit was accepted & put on the account around 4:30 in the morning no problem, then around 9:00 I get on line to pay my long over-due bills, but nothing will accept the payment, but I know the money is there, I cant understand it. So I call greendot to ask for their help.

WELL, first off, if your going to get one of these rippoff visa's maybe you should also think about taking some foreign language classes, cause you'll be hearing a lot of it whenever you call. Everybody there has such bad english I told them to talk to me in their native language cause I would probably understand them better. (and I only speak english) (well, not anymore) I've picked up some hindu, and a lot of bad attitude, monotones, im not listening to a word you say.

You demand to speak to a supervisor and if they see fit to put you on hold for a half hour to "go get" one your lucky, so you think your lucky, then you realize the supervisor knows even less then the first shmuck and has an even heavier accent and bad, Im right your crap attitude.

Anyway i finally decipher that they, (in all their wisdom) think that my $4000 refund is a lot of money, so they should put a block on my account!

They then informed me i would have to fax them, a copy of my state issued I.D., a copy of my social security card, a copy of my tax return and a letter explaining why the deposit is so much, and asking them if they would PLEASE! Unblock my account.

Needless to say I was livid, But, I held my composure, because all my bills had to be paid, I knew i was stuck playing their game. So i complied, (figuring i WOULD get to the bottom of this later, but for now i gotta play, i go down copy the items they demanded, and my little note apoligizing for inconvenencing them then go home.

After about 30 minutes or so i call them to make sure they got the fax, they had no idea what i was talking about. I ask them for the fax # & it was the # i had. So they tell me i'll have to do it again, O. K, so i go down to the Px and copy everything again fax it again, this time it wont send i ask the clerk why not, she says nobody answers to take it.

I go back home and call them, after about fifteen minutes of trying to get a live person on the phone i explained what happened and he asked me what fax # i was trying, i told him & then he figured out the problem-"thats not the right # he says "Well i said its the # they gave me, i sent the first fax there and it's nowhere to be found, so i had to send again but it wouldn't even take it. He says, Thats because that #'s a different dept. And their closed.

I asked him why the 2 other employees would have given me that # and he replied "they didn't" you must have wrote it down wrong, " I said "WHAT" HE SAID THEY WOULD NOT HAVE DONE THAT. So i orate the # i have and he says yes, thats it but that dept is closed. So dont fax anything there! Fax it to the # the two employees gave you in the first place!

I was numb, but bills, so i says put a supervisor on the phone, after 20 minutes a guy comes on and i gotta explain the whole thing to him, after i get through doing that he tells me i'll have to send another fax, MY GOD! I was actually looking around for a hidden camera, so i bit my lip and agreed with him that is what i should probably do, and thanked him cause i could never have figured that out, BUT, wait i said i need the fax #, you probably wont be shocked but guess what # he gives me! The same # for the "closed" dept.

After getting what i hoped was the right # i set out again to drp off the ransom, I faxed it to the correct # it it went through, finally!

I get home and call to see if they got it and after about half an hour on hold he comes back to the phone and tells me its no good its too light, i'd have to fax it again, Let me talk to a supervisor, LO & BEHOLD they put someone on the line that needs to hear the whole story from the beginning, anyway she asks me if i could hold a minute for her to retrieve my file, no problem
i said, I was on around 15 minutes when somebody comes back on the line, doesn't say anything, then hangs up the line on me!

Anyway, this went on for a couple of days, then, i finally got everything they demanded of me faxed over right. So i call again to make sure everything was in order, and that i hadn't ruined their day too much and they told me O.K. We'll send it to that dept. And it'll be lifted in 24 to 48 hrs. O.K. I thought i gotta pay these bills, anyway, let me not go on further except to say -4 days, no water, no electricity, soon to be no gas, later still blocked

Oh, thats because im so stupid, i should have known when he said 24 to 48 hrs. Thats business hrs. Which is like 8 days to you and i. But wait, there is a silver lining to this cloud at least greendot was still able to get their maintenance fees

UNBELIEVABLE! And they wonder why people get crazy and go postal!
