I went online to get a GEICO quote after they kept sending me junk mail about how I could save up to $500/yr on auto insurance. I completed the online form and received a quote of $653 for 6 months which was cheaper than my current insurance by $180/year. When I went to the screeen to purchase it showed a price of $676.
I called GEICO to why the increase. I was told that the $676 was not correct either and that the premium would actually be $820. It was explained that my address was in a county that was more expensive than neighboring counties.
The thing is, my address did not change from when the internet quoted me and when I talked to a rep. I was told that had I purchased the insurance online I would have been sent an invoice for the additional $144. What a scam. The quote was not even correct and I would not have known it until after buying the policy. I kept my current insurer since they were only $743
