Do not get a card with this company. I made a terrible mistake. I wanted to build my credit and accepted a card from First Premier Bank with a $250 credit limit.
The card arrived with a $178 balance before I even used it. I should have immediately returned the card.instead, I read the paperwork and found that the $178 was from fees and decided since I have bad credit, I deserved to have to go through this to repair my credit.
I immediately went online and paid $120. First Premier Bank charged me $7 to pay them $120 and $3.95 to view my account online. After two days, I noticed my balance only increased (they added the $7 and $3.95). I viewed my bank account and the $120 was already removed my my checking. First Premier said they hold payments for 20 days. 20 days after charging me $7 to pay it and 3.95 to view the account!!!
I have made a TERRIBLE MISTAKE. I'm in a complete predicament. Do I stay with them, pay off slowly and never charge a dime to build my credit or do I cancel?
I'm telling everyone I know about First Premier Bank. If you are a victim please speak out at every venue you can find. I've already posted on consumeraffairs.com. I am reporting them to my attorney general as well and contacting a banking attorney to find out what other actions I can take, if any.
It is very unfortunate that companies like this pray on vulnerable people. Please if you are considering this company, stop and go find another way.
