Non-sufficient fund fees, lies, away to take your money ripoff

My story matches other reports I have read here. If you have automatic payments set up with a company to be paid on a set date each month, it seems that BB&T will take the money out 5 to 10 days early. It seems as though they are watching for your account to be short, then they take out the money.

Even though you have a contract with for example "AOL", that the money is to be charged on the 15th of each month, BB&T will take it out early. BB&T will tell you that the money hasn't been paid yet, that they are holding it for that auto payment.

This causes you to think that you have money available, that should be available, you spend it and then four our five items get charged as NSF fees.

You haven't signed anything giving BB&T the right to hold money for a set auto payment, so what gives them the right to pull that money out early? Oh, they don't post it, and they don't subtract it from your available balance. So even if you do a balance check, your money will appear to be there.

My husband and I got fed up and left BB&T last month. The account was closed on March 30. We recieved a notice yesterday of non-sufficient funds on an auto payment presented on this account on the 4th of April. The notice says that BB&T didn't pay any money out, yet they want to charge us a NSF fee of $35.00 on an account that is closed.

If they are allowed to do this, they will be able to charge us money on this account for the rest of our lives. We are not going to pay it. We will call WRAL-TV 5 on your side.
