My husband has banked with Suntrust for many years. He has used their autopay bill payer service online for the past few months.in Feb Suntrust paid all of his bill pays twice, even though he had only set them up for one payment per month. He ended up over drafted by $721.
The bank insisted that is was his error and not the banks. (I bank with Wachovia and once I did set up bill pay twice accidentially and they called to verify first before paying) He decided to close the account, but first he cancelled all of his bill pays on Feb 10,07. He closed the account on March 14,07. On April 6,07, they started paying out all of his bill pays again! So far the bank manager has told him that because it hasnt been 30days yet that his account is not closed yet.
However, my husband cancelled ALL of his bill pays on Feb 10,07. They did not take anything out in March for bill pay, so why are they taking it out now? We are still waiting for a call-back and luckily I am paralegal who is getting one of our attorneys here to help me. This has cost us over $1000 to take care of. My husband is a disabled Vietnam Vet who gets SSI and a small benefit check from the VA. Suntrust's bill pay has ripped my husband off!
