Beware of Point Marketing Group and of Tony Wyss. I only recently found out about this site, so I'm now putting in my report.
I found Point Marketing Group on CareerBuilder.com, so I applied for the job as a Manager Trainee. I then got a call for an interview. Little did I know that it was too good to be true.
I went in for the first interview, and I waited for a while before I met with Tony. He seemed like a nice guy. He explained the training program, and how I would have to work hard. However, he didn't tell everything. If I knew everything, I wouldn't have accepted the second interview.
I was told that I would shadow another employee for my second interview. Ok... So I thought I would shadow someone in an office. Boy, was I wrong. I got to the office in the morning, and was introduced to a PMG employee, who I will not name. She told me that we would be going away from the office. I got in the car, and that's when I found out the truth. This job involved door to door sales. I knew that I wasn't going to take the job when she told me this. I had no choice but to go with her because by the time she told me that this was door to door sales, we were on the freeway.
We spent hours walking door to door. Later on around 5pm, we were stopped by a cop. I explained to him my situation, and how this was only an interview for me. I also told him that I had no plans on taking this job. He still wrote me a ticket, because I was with someone who was soliciting without a license. That's right... The person I was shadowing did not have a license to sell the coupon books door to door. Later on this so called employee also told me that no one in the company had licenses.
I was very upset. The person I was shadowing, as well as two other PMG employees, took me back to the office. I spoke with Tony, and he told me that he would take care of the ticket. He would pay for it. He gave me his cell phone and everything. One week passed, and I called to check if he paid. He didn't answer his phone, and his voice mail was full. So I called the office, the receptionist took my message, and said he would call me back. He did not. Finally after I called him many times, I spoke with him. He told me that he paid for it, and that everything was fine. For some reason, I decided to call the Gwinnett County, where I got the ticket, Recorders Court to make sure that it was paid. That's when I learned that Tony was a liar. A ticket for soliciting without a license requires a court appearance. I had to go to court for something that I wasn't even being paid for. I called Tony, and when I did get in touch with him, he acted ignorant of that fact. I told him that I was going to speak with a lawyer. That's when he was very rude to me, and spoke to me like I was an idiot.
He called me back a day later and told me that his lawyer advised him to go to court in order to take care of this. He told me that he would go to court on my behalf. I told him no, that I had to go because my name was on the ticket. I mostly told him no because I didn't trust him one bit. So he told me that he would go to court, and he would reimburse me for my gasoline. When I got to the court house, my doubts were realized. He didn't show up like he said he would. Luckily, when I told the judge my story, he dropped the charges. I didn't have to pay a fine.
I haven't heard from Tony since. He never reimbursed me for my troubles. I tried to contact him, but he never answered the phone, and he never replied.
Point Marketing Group is a rip off company. I don't want anyone to go through what I did. What if I didn't call the Gwinnett County Court because I believed that Tony took care of the ticket? I would have a warrant out for my arrest in Georgia. I lost sleep because of this. I was overly stressed because of this. The emotional distress was overwhelming. I suffered through all of this because of this rip off company.
