Charge me interest twice in one month

GE Money charged me double interest on my 1st payment. My bill amount that was due was $63.00 an i paid a hundred to cut down on interest charges. For that month they charged me $71.28 interest charge which was more than my regular payment of $63.00. Extra money that i paid should have went to the principal, instead they placed it all on interest charges.
