I have been with Downey Savings for many years and was wary when US Bank took them over.US Bank charged us 4 overdraft fees in one day (for a total of $140) for debits (all under $8) that hit the checking account while the bank was reserving money via a check card for college rent for our daughter. We deposited enough money into the account to cover all of the transactions before the bank withdrew money from the account to cover the reserved amount.in fact the date the bank listed the reserve amount was a day after the 4 debits hit the account, but the fees were still imposed. At this time the reserved money has still not been taken out of the account. They actually charged 4 times for very small debits because of a reserve for a larger amount actually dated online a day after the debits hit the account. This does not even seem legal. We are looking for another bank at this time.
