Got me to pay for appraisal never heard back

I posted previously about my experience with Quicken Loans. Thought I would have better luck with Countrywide but guess again.

Initially the loan advisor was very helpful and courteous. Everything seemed to be going well. The problem came when I was told I would have to have an appraisal.

I was trying to finish the last of some remodeling on my home. Was told that it had to be finished or the appraisal could not be done. Was also told that the appraisal had to be done within a few days or I would lose the rate that was quoted.

I managed to scrounge up funds to finish-up what was needed (which was one of the reasons I was doing the refinance to begin with). Also paid $300 for appraisal. Appraiser came - went - waited a week - never heard back - from ANYONE.

Called the loan officer - no call back. E-mailed loan officer -no answer. Finally went with another lender that had wonderful customer service (treating me like a person - not just another sale).

I tried several times contacting Countrywide to express my disatisfaction and to either get a refund on or, at the very least, getting a copy of the appraisal.

Still no answer from anyone.
