Household Bank
Liars, crooks, and theives ripoff

I originally got my household bank credit card to build my credit and to control my spending. Well it turns out that I was sorely mistaken. I have only had my account with them for, now two months.

I went online, to make my first payment to them. Since I am trying to build my credit back to where it should be, I made my payment in full to them. (BIG MISTAKE) I soon found out that doing a rush payment so I could use the card for my christmas shopping, gas, and whathaveyou's was a bad bad idea.

I made my payment, and was informed that it would be applied to my account within 48 hours. (this was all done online) I was extatic, I figured I would still have time to get my christmas shopping done, and since I paid it off and I would have the money to use by the weekend, I would pay off the rest of my bills.

I am the kind of average joe that has to live paycheck to paycheck, so in doing this I left myself with only about 50 dollars in my checking account after paying all of my bills and paying off my card in full. Two days go by and there is nothing on my card. I wasn't going to panic, so I just called their customer service number, and was told "Your payment has been put on hold since it is for such a large amount" WHAT? I then told myself there was no need to panic again, and that it would probably be in there by monday. The person I spoke with that day said she didn't see a reason for it to take more than a day or two.

Went on my merry way with the weekend, and used my remaining 50 in my checking for food and gas. Well Monday came and went, and still no money on my credit card, but it was already taken out of my checking account.

I got curious and called Monday night. I was told then by yet another person that it would take anywhere from 10 to 14 days as of Monday night. That is when I started to panic. I checked back Tuesday morning hoping that it would be on there or they would fix their mistake of charging me a rush payment fee since it didn't even post to my account that I did a rush payment till over two days later. No such luck.

Called yet again on Tuesday night, only to hear something different. This women seemed to be understanding and sympathetic to my situation, and told me that she saw they had received the money from my bank, and it would most likely post at the end of that business day, otherwise by noon on Wednesday. She seemed to know what she was talking about so I blindly took her word for it.

Tuesday passed, still no money, Wednesday came and went, still no money. I am finally at my breaking point after talking to a supposid supervisor who told me they HADN'T recieved my money from my bank, and that it probably wouldn't be till after christmas that my payment would be applied to my card.

I have had one person put me on hold to not deal with the situation, was left there to become frustrated and hang up after 20 minutes. I was blown off by someone who again didn't want to handle the problem and was given an 800 number to call. I know better than to just assume I have the right number so I repeated it back to him and he said it was correct. Call it only to get the check-in desk of a hotel. Call back to the customer service AGAIN, and get someone telling me that it would be Friday that I would have my money.

WHATS GOING ON? No one there seems to have their stories straight, or know even a little of whats going on. The final person I spoke with, now not thinking I can trust any of them, has told me he would put a "memo" in the system to get it taken care of ASAP. He told me also to call back at 7AM EST, I live in Minnesota so it is Centeral time here. I made sure to try and call at exactly 7AM there to hopefully get this remedied this morning seeing as I need to put gas in my car and I was counting on that money being there Monday. Sat on hold for over 10 Minutes waiting to be helped by someone, and then realizing from the information online that they are centeral time aswell.

I have hit my breaking point with this company and it is only the beginning of my second month with them. Their level of ethics is below any company I have seen yet, even Enron. They have no such thing as customer service, and their ability to handle a fairly simple problem is non-existant.

I have a terrible feeling in my gut that it won't be until after christmas, that my account will be credited, and that is a big IF. I will keep this updated as to what happens.
