Generally when a person chooses a career they want something lagitamate, something that implies the ability to grow in something, and something that will test their skills. However, when a person goes to "look for a job" it generally means that they have no skills or education and need something that they can get by on before their belongings are reposessed. To better explain; those with no education are usually not going find the career they want, but they will find a job. Here's how you know to stay away from a company, when the company gives group interviews where they boast the company up so high that you begin to believe it's the next Microsoft, run away, especially when you find out that half the people getting the jobs are highschool dropouts or worse.
My experience is this:
I'm a sophmore at the University of Missouri studying business admin. With an emphasis on marketing. I consider myself pretty well educated and a smart business thinker. When my second semester was ending I looked into maybe finding an early internship for the following summer, instead I found UA. I was skeptical at the fact that they telling you that you could just walk in and make $100 -150 k a year with no experience needed, but thought I would go to the interview. I expected a one on one real world interview with a well to do manager, instead I had a group interview. Before he started the interview some of the applicants starting talking with each other about things like finances and their drug charges. I did not feel that I fit in and wondered what in the world I had gotten myself into. One of the applicants explained a situation in which she had just gotten out of rehab for haroin, another was talking about not having enough "DOE" to catch the bus home and needed a ride, this was a F*ing zoo. When the manager came in he gave a Sh! T talk about how the company is one of the biggest in the world for insurance and how their agents are incredibly wealthy, great part about this was that the nicest car in the agent parking was a Pontiac Sunfire, my focus was nicer than any of those high dollar agents. To make a long story short the interview ended with each and every single loser in the room dreaming of making "big money" one of them even said "well hell, this sounds like a humdinger" (whatever the hell that is).
The moral of the story is, if you at least graduated from highschool then you can find a much better job somewhere else. United American is meant for highschool dropouts with no common sense. Hell, the branch manager drove a rusted out Honda CRX with two spares accomidating the front wheels and he introduced us to his top agent who was a man with no front teeth. These guys are seriously trailor trash. Take my word for it or don't, but the fact of the matter is that no one will ever go into a place like United American and make more than they would make working at their local Wendy's, hell I even hear at Wendy's you get a discount on food, at UA you get the luxurious life of a one bedroom trailor and if it is not a trailor where you call home then your credit is shit after anything more.
And let this be said to. No UA agents need to come on here and talk about how the quality of their agents is high, that's bs, my dad has a friend who owns an insurance firm and when I talked to him about UA, he told me that they are the lowest of the low, plus when one branches top agent is one with no teeth their is a problem. Anyone can get a job here so long as they can spell simple words.
