Providian card was in a debt consolidation after my husband was hurt at work. Providian sold to washington mutual who decided they wanted more money and were not going to honor the original terms... But apparently expects consumers to be psychic because they never told me or the consolidation company (a fact they admit to on the phone). The "sold" me account as a charge off to a recovery service. I refied my home to pay this off and now they continue to report me every month. I have disputed through the credit reporting agencies which gets no where and when i call washington mutual i get a recording to call the recovery service and cannot get to a human. I get hung up on instead. The recovery company is very appologetic but cannot help me.
