I had a washington mutual account back in 2004 and decided to get a credit card with them also. The biggest mistake of my life. I was pregnant at that time and wasnt able to work so we fell a little behind on out payments.
I then got a settlement letter from them in the mail saying that they were willing to settle this account for 70%. I agreed to this and started making payments.
All the time I delt with one associate who walked me through the whole process and setting up payments. I contacted the associate at least once a week due to the fact that my payments were being taken out every week and he assured me that I was almost done paying off this account.
One week I tried to call the same rep and there was no answer for 2 weeks. I finally contacted another associate that told me the guy that was handling my acct no longer worked with the company. I told her that I would like to get my total balance because I knew that I was almost done and to my surprise she told me that I still owed over $2,000!!! I was very shocked and she was very rude to me.
I just got a call from a third pary that told me I have to pay or be sued. Can anyone with some legal advice please help me! I have all of my old documents and would like to also sue them for emotional distress too! I am more than willing to split the settlement with you. Please help me put an end to this nightmare!
