In April I leased a credit card machine from a Merchant Sales Rep... Which is who I thought my payments each month were going to. After two years of struggling in the business I gave it up and went back to my old job. However, I continued to have a monthly fee of $36 deducted from my account (for the lease) and another $32 for processing... Alothough I was no longer using this process. I finally had both of those charge taken off my account and called the Rep I originally got my machine from to ask how I go about returning and how much longer my "contract" was for.
I never heard from him the last time I was charged for the lease was in Jan. 2006.. I called in Feb to ask.in March my home burned and my husband & I have been living in a Hotel for the last six months. We just moved back in and on the third day I get a call from a "third party" saying I need to settle a debt of $720 to a Leasing Company for a defaulted contract and what had I done with their machine??? Only a portion of our home burned so the CC machine was fine, and I said had it in a safe place... He asked that I call him in a few hours with the tracking information. If I did not settle the debt and return the machine in 48 hours he would file wrongful possession of a property or something like that.
I had no idea where my contract was... No idea who Lease Finance Group was. He told me my contract was up in April. Which would have left me missing my 48 months by three... A simple phone call or letter would have had me gladly retruning the CC machine and paying the difference... I'll admit, my phone number has changed and my address but this guy didn't have a hard time finding me!
Lease Finance Group hired a guy to strongarm me and continued charging a "lease fee" plus collections fees and everything else... I sent the guy the machine (in excellent condition) but in all reality I only owe $108 for the months I did default. So if you are leasing something from them... I suggest you get it back right away... They have no mercy!!
