Asset Acceptance
Corp Reporting false dates and amounts owed Warren

I am writing regarding Asset Acceptance Corp, reporting false dates and amount owed, and a credit reporting angency refusing to remove it, from my credit report.

I opened a credit card account with Providian in 1998. I got behind on my payments.in November 1999 I joined he Military. At the time of my enlistment, my recruiter informed me that if had any credit cards, I could have my interest rate on those credit cards capped at 6%. This was per the Soldiers and Sailors Relief act, now known as Service Members Civil Relief Act. I was instructed to contact Providian, and inform them of my enlistment. I contacted Providian November 1999, they said they would lower my interest rate.

I left for boot camp and soon after was deployed. I had forgotten about the credit card bill.

Here we are and Asset Acceptance is trying to collect money owed to Providian over seven years ago. I disputed the charges with all three credit-reporting agencies, and two of the three have removed it. Equifax will not remove it. I have requested in writing proof of the dates and amounts owed, and have not received anything.

The date of last activity is reported as November 1999. That is when I called Providian and asked them to lower my interest rate. They have also listed the date as May as being the last date of activity. They keep changing the dates, and the amount, and I have not received any proof of these being valid dates or amounts. They seem to be picking whatever date they see fit.

My credit limit on the credit card was $1,500.00, and Asset claims I owe $3,000.00, but will not provide me with any documentation as to how they came to the amount they claim I owe.

I contacted Equifax and asked them what proof they have that the date and amount is valid and they said they have a letter from Asset that states it is valid. Don't they have to have legal documentation, from Asset that proves the debt is valid, not just something Asset has written?

Please let me know what I can do to have this removed from my credit.
