On 6/16/06 (notice the trio of sixes), I recieved an unsolicited phone call from a representative of a company named Capital Financial. I was told I was eligible to receive a credit card loaded with $2000. I asked if this was a real credit card if I could use it anywhere and extract money from ATM machines.
When the phone rep told me that I could, I gave them my banking info. HUGE MISTAKE!
All I had to do was agree to let them take $200 from my checking account (he told me that this money would come back to me in the form of vouchers). Being a poor graduate student, I jumped at the chance.
On 6/20, they took $200 from my bank account. I called their customer service number to find out when my card would arrive, and the phone rep told me that this card was only good toward their catalog.
I told her what the phone rep told me, and she said, "We have you on on recording, saying that you agreed to the deal!" This is when I was sure this company was foul, because she had a way of putting me on the defensive. She asked if I would like to cancel my account and I told her to please cancel it. Then, I asked to hear the recording, and she told me that someone would call me back to allow me to hear the recording. Needless to say, nobody ever called me back.
So, I wrote a letter on 7/11 to their consumer affairs dept. They responded with a letter that stated: "... We find that neither Capital Financial Inc. Nor any of its agents made any errors or misrepresentations to you pertaining to your request to be processed... At this time we find that no refund is due."
When I did recieve their catalog, I realized how horrible this company was. Capital Financial sells USELESS JUNK! I tried to access their website, but it is nonexistent. I've been scammed, just like everyone else who does business with Capital Financial. Now, I am flat broke and really frustrated.
Plus, I hear that they might start taking MORE money from my account. Now, I might have to close out my account because of these jerks!
If anyone would like to start up a class action suit, I am so in!
