Since Ocwen took over our loan, dealing with them has been a nightmare. They have misapplied our payments, sent us threatening letters, and hasseled us even though our payments are current.
(1) I stopped corresponding with them over the phone so I would have written records of everything they said. Also, there would be written records of what I stated and Ocwen personnel could not continue to LIE about contents of our conversations.
(2) I send all correspondence to them by certified mail with signature requested. This includes all payments. (It's amazing how much faster my payments are received by Ocwen using certified mail—I haven't been charged a late fee since I started this.)
(3) I save all correspondence in a file for future reference, and also to prove the many mistakes they make. The latest one was when I was corresponding about a huge discrepency on my account. The Ocwen representative in responding to my letter, referenced the wrong account number. (He also lied about a conversation we had when I was still talking to them.)
(4) Carbon copy ALL of your correspondence to the Office of Thrift Supervision. Since Ocwen is federally chartered, they fall under the jurisdiction of this federal agency. It is amazing how much nicer ocwen employees are when they are responding to my correspondence forwarded to them from the office of thrift supervision. Office of Thrift Supervision

(5) When Ocwen has ignored my written request, I make it in writing again. (and I carbon copy it to the Office of Thrift Supervision also.) This gives proof of my requests, and their incompetence in answering.
