I received a phone call from Capital Financial a few weeks ago. The woman I spoke with told me that I was referred to their company from one of their affiliates because of my credit. The woman told me that her company would issue me a credit that could help me repair my credit.
She comfirmed my information and then asked me for my checking account number. I asked her why and she said that I had to pay 200.00 but basically it would be refunded to me in vouchers that I could use for my first payment as long as the purchase was over $300.00.
I gave her my checking account information. However, a few days later I decided that I did not want the card. I am trying to pay off old debt and did not want a new credit card. I called and cancelled and was given the address to mail my letter for a refund.
I received a letter from them stating that they will not refund my $200.00 because they did not misrepresent themselves. I am completely annoyed and I wonder if this is legal. I did not sign anything that I feel binds me to accept their business. And I definitely do not think that they have the right to keep my money.
I know in the future to not get involved in any any unsolicited offers.
