Gmac: 1-888-303-0906 do not give these people your personal information!
Thank you so much to Usa Consumer Complaints.com and those who previously posted on this topic! I received a message tonight from a person named "Brian Blackwell." The message was garbled, and what I could pick out it stated something to the following effect: "Hello, my name is Brian Blackwell attempting to reach Michael regarding a personal matter. Return my call and stand by for the following message."
After that, a VERY CLEAR pre-recorded message began instructing me to call 888-303-0906 from 8am to 12am EST during the week, and some shorter hours on Saturday. I am not one to return calls from people that do not announce themselves, so I began searching for the number online... Fortunately leading here. After reading the similar scam incidents I decided to call the number.
I used a random name and number generator, generated some ficitional data and called them back. Now I'm not sure about you all, but when I call big companies the last thing I get is an actual person! But, on the first ring someone answered and stated "Thanks for calling GMAC, can I please have your social security number?" I gave them the random 9-digit number and they attempted to search in their "database" but could not locate my info. While he was searching, I asked what the call was regarding... He said "a business matter with GMAC, " but would not provide any further details. After stating I did not have any loans with GMAC he sounded astonished. After again asking why he was calling, he sat there... And I informed him that people are on to the scam and they may want to consider closing up shop!
I highly suggest that EVERYONE call 888-303-0906 as many times as you can... And just sit there. For every person that calls that number, they are getting charged! Toll-free time is free to you and I, but not the company that owns the number! I highly doubt this is a legitimate GMAC operation, especially after reading other posts. If they want to waste our time, let's waste theirs... Call the number!
