I responded to an e-mail for a visa credit card. Upon reading that my checking account would be debited for $159.00, I immediately sent an e-mail (using the reply) informing them that I did not have the funds available to withdraw and not to process my application.
After a few days I received a letter/bill from my bank stating they had withdrawn the $159.00 to this company as well as charge me an overdraft fee of $30.00. I sent another e-mail telling the company what happened, and asked for the return of my money.
I did not receive any response.in the meantime, the withdrawals I had made, prior to this, had been processed causing a $30.00 overdraft fee for each transaction (total of 5).
I looked up information on the company through my on line banking, called the company and this is what I was told.
First, they do not respond to e-mails. Second, it was too late to cancel. "It was all in the terms and conditons".
I pleaded that they make some type of resitution since my husband of 23 years had just left me, taking all our money, and left me without a place to live or a car. I was trying to get credit to reestablish my life! Again "No, it's all in the terms and conditons mam".
Lastly, this wasn't even a credit card after all. It works like a debit card, You can use it like a credit card anywhere, except that I would have to put the money in the account to use the card. Is that not a ripoff or what?
My checking account is now -266.00 thanks to this fraudulent scheme and I do not even have a way to pay the bank back.in additon my bank is charging me $5.00 a day until I bring the account out of the negative.
I don't know where to turn, can you help me?
