Fleet Bank
Refused to refund the charge made due to their erro

Fleet makes their own rules when it comes to crediting deposits. I twice made deposits at ATM's they cleared and then Fleet decided it would rip me off and unclear them thus overdrafting my account. I got a letter from Fleet to send to anyone I made a payment to that may have resulted in an overdraft which did absolutely nothing but at Fleet at least refunded the charges.

The first time they admitted they were wrong sent me a letter of apology that stated this wasn't the way they want to treat customers. Well three months later they're at it again. I deposited a money order it was shown as cleared, I used the account and then got a seventy five dollar fee.

I complained once again and not only did they try to blame the government for this error, they blamed me for their prior error and refused to refund the charge because I had a refund three months prior.

It is clearly stated in Fleet literature that U.S. Funds, money orders and Fleet checks clear the next business day, but Fleet clears those deposits at the close of business thus they aren't really following thier own rules.

I don't have lots of money to put in a bank the little I have is what I live on, having a Fleet account is making me broke. If you are using this bank get out while you can especially if you don't always have thousands of dollars in your account.

Get out for two reasons, first if you don't have a lot of money in your account you get higher charges, second if they screw up you can kiss your money good-bye. Fleet was voted the most customer unfriendly bank in a recent poll I read and it is absolutely true. Fleet Bank is a warped company that deals with customers like a reverse Robin - Hood, steal from the poor kiss up to the rich.
