An individual contacted me by the name of 'Paul Sieger" who claimed he was from bank of america card processing center. He stated that i had been approved for a credit card with a limit of 8000 dollars. This man said i should go to western union and send the 125 dollar processing fee to atlanta georgia and make the money payable to stefan schlenker and to include a question.
He gave me a confirmation number a pin number and all this stuff over the phone. He even spoke about jesus! I was told i would receive my card via federal express the next day. Needless to say he was a liar and i am out of 125 dollars plud the 22 dollars to send the money via western union. I hope that others will read this and be very careful when people call and offer you credit over the phone.
What I find particularly funny was this man actually knew that i had previously applied for a bank of america credit card and was able to give me the date of when I applied. I have since pulled my credit report and i am fortunate that no one has stole my identity! How do they know when and where you have applied for credit?
This is not the first time that someone has contacted me with invitations for credit and knew that I had appliied elsewhere and the dates of when I applied because i keep current credit reports and was able to verify the dates. Oretty scary! I really feel vulnerable & violated by the individuals who have taken advantage of me.
I hope the perp is caught and i contacted bank of america and they gave me a number to scam alert. They informed me that secret service would contact me in the future. I also talked with the people at Western Union and they said that the reason the man asked me to include a question was so that he did not have to use his identification.
I am reallly mad about all these scams and I hope some kind of stiff penalty is imposed upon these predators. The only thing I wanted was a credit card.
