Countrywide Home Loans
Ripoff

I am an evacuee from southeast Louisiana since Katrina destroyed my home and parish (St Bernard Parish). However prior to the hurricane I optained a 2nd mortg insurance policy that would pay the mortgage incase of fire, tornado, hurricane, flood etc. The insurance company sent Countrywide a check in November for the first 4 months after Katrina - a check $3400.60. They noted my account they received it but never credited my account. An Additional 3 checks from same insurance company for $850.15 each was sent, received and posted by Countrywide.

In january I received a Countrywide check for $3400.60. When I called they admitted to me that they did not know what to do with that so they sent me back the money.in course of conversation, it was decided I would void the check, Countrywide would stop payment and they would credit my account.

Three weeks later when I checked nothing had been done. At that time they told me to return the check. Which I did that same day. (I had voided the check and written all over it)

Two weeks have passed. They are now refusing to issue another check, refusing to post the money to my account. They have reported me to the credit bureaus and of course interest is acculumating on the account.

Now Countrywide has the $3400.60 somewhere. They are growing interest on it I am sure but I do not believe they will even think of giving me that interest.
I called the 2nd insurance company and was told that Countrywide was the absolute worst to do business with. They did not want to get involved because they are doing what they need to do. Countrywide is the one holding the $3400.00
