I was denied a credit card for deliquent debts. Shortly, I bought a brand new Dodge van (financed). I decided to get an Experian credit report to find out what was delinquent. Suddenly, this is where my fun began.
I found out I owed 334.64 to a company call CBCS out of Ohio. They are apparently a collection agency for numerous companys mostly phone service. I call and spoke to a supervisor named Stephen (I think.). I told him I had not had phone service for at least 6 years with Bell South. I asked him to send me a company letter stating what I owed and to who and I would be more than glad to take care of this promptly. He told me that if I had been more responsible, we would not be having this conversation. He went on to refuse to send me any information, but was very demanding when it came to getting my credit card or bank account information... Which of course I refused to give. He then hung up on me... Strange behavior for a company whom I owe so much money to.
I called Bell South's corporate office and talked to one of their supervisors. They ran my SS#. Their records show me having phone service with them almost 6 yrs ago, I paid the bill and then cancelled my service. According to their records, they never turned anything over to a collection agent regrading my account. This only added to my suspicion that this company CBCS is a fraud.
I have now filed a dispute with Experian regarding this issue. I will update this report with any new information regarding this matter up to the point of any legal action I will take to clear this up.in the meantime, do not pay CBCS unless you have undeniable proof that you actually owe someone money.
