Platinum Benefit Group sent me an e-mail about a Master Card. I read that there were some nominal fees and decided to apply. At the very end of the process, there was a little note stating that a debit would be made to my account. When I checked my account balance today, I learned $129.95 was withdrawn yesterday. I never authorized this. There was no mention that a deduction in this amount would be made.
I was able to reach customer service. The rep asked me to fax a letter to the Credit Refund Dept. Which I did. The rep did inform me that the fee was nonrefundable and asked if I was aware of that. Of course I was not since I was not aware that there was a fee. I did read the terms and agreement outlining the fees, etc. And this is why the company is a rip-off. There was no mention of that fee.
I will contact my bank tomorrow about the Federal Regulation E and see if they can help me get my mooney back. I will update this site if I recoup my funds and let everyone else know what to do.
