It started when after 4 years of my wife signing my name to my business checks that the bank decided this was no longer exceptable. I had to (a) add her as a additional account holder, (b) personally sign all checks, (c) get a signature stamp.
Could not do (a) as I was a DBA, (b) meant after working 15 hours a day I would have to sit and sign up to 15 checks per night, so we went the route of (c) A
Approximately 3 months goes by and we get our statement and there are 3 checks written out to the same person all cashed on the same day. My wife immeadiately notified the bank that these were fraudulant checks. The next day I went to the bank and signed papers stating the same. I was told that day that they would investigate and correct the problem.
Two weeks latter no response so I go to the bank, well everybody is busy in meetings and I'm again told that they are working on it.
Twenty Two days pass and I get a certified letter that states that after talking to their lawyers they are not responsable because I signed a letter stating that they should except my stamped signature on all checks. They had known from the local police department a full 15 days before that I had to go to each town the checks where cashed in and sign a complaint.
The checks used do not match the type of check I used and was supplied by the bank.
It is in my opinion that somebody in the bank or connected to the bank was involved since (a) they knew exactly how far into the check numbers we were and (b) only the bank would have known that this signature was being used and accepted all the time.
I am now out $2,865.00 due to this and all the bank says is "sorry but we're not responsable"
I also know for a fact that another person had similar problems with this bank and did nothing for them.
