In Oct selected First Horizon Home Loans (Irving TX) thru Lending Tree.com for second mortgage. Loan approved and payments started.
In Dec received letter from First Horizon Home Loans (TX) that loan would be transfered to First Horizon Equity Lending (Memphis, TN) effective date of Jan 1.
Contacted First Horizon (TN) customer service after being told that the person listed in the letter as point of contact did not exist. Told them that I had already made Jan payment to First Horizon (TX). They suggested I stop payment on that check and send them the money owed. I did that. Did not receive any communication from First Horizon (TX) that there were any questions or problems.
In April I sold the property and paid off the second mortgage to First Horizon (TN)
In Oct ordered a free credit report and discovered that First Horizon (TX) has placed adverse information in my file regarding the second mortgage. Specifically the payment that I was told to stop and forward to First Horizon (TN).
I contacted First Horizon (TN) and confirmed that the loan was paid off. I then contacted First Horizon (TX) customer service. They stated that I had missed a payment; that I had blocked all attempts to communicate with them. I find that hard to believe since I am still receiving mail forwarded by my previous servicing US post office. You can tell by the yellow forwarding sticker on the envelope. Bottonline, I found customer service/knowledge extremely lacking at both locations.
Acknowledging the futile, I sent the requested payment to First Horizon (TX) via USPS next day service. It has been two weeks and my status has not changed.
I guess for those of you researching First Horizon Home Loans, be aware of a customer service department that lacks the knowlegde needed to help. Maybe now that interest rates are going up and the pool of potential customers is shrinking, maybe First Horizon will invest in a customer service department that actually services customers.
