I have been reading information on HomEq for awhile now. We have had this company since 1999 when we refinanced our home with the Mortgage Outlet. What a mistake... Since then, HomEq has forced us into a Chapter 13 Bk. We paid into the Bk with HomEq and out of the plan. Another words, they were receiving the arrears in the 13 along with the regular mortgage payment.
Throughout this time, HomEq tried to foreclose on our home at least 3 times. Always asking for more money along the way. Never reporting payments on time, trying to say they never received payment. Finally had to start sending payments certified mail. Even then, they still didn't post it to the account in a timely manner. And you guessed it, late fees galore. Then when you try to get current the fees are then raised again. They have tried to force place insurance on our property at least twice when we have had our own insurance.
Long story short, we were discharged from our Chapter 13 with honors of paying all payments in the plan. No sooner did we get the discharge papers, they went behind our backs with no notification and started foreclosure proceedings again and stopped taking our checks.
We tried to refinance our home without any luck. They have this so screwed up it isn't even funny. They reported on our credit report 120 days late throughout the whole Chapter 13 case and now we owe more then we did when we first started. As a last ditch effort, I contacted one last reputable mortgage company and the loan officer heard what I had to tell him regarding the mortgage. He mention, no way, no how can we refinance. He mentioned, he didn't like to speak badly about his competitors, but what this company is doing is unprofessional.
We have now decided to convert a second 13 which we filed to save our home into a BK 7. When this company found out we were filing another 13, again you guessed it, the fees went up again.
Well, we have now decided to make the right decision for us and file the BK 7 and just move on. Unfortuantely, we are now out of a home we have had for 12 years because of this company.
Advice to others, please if you can refinance away from them, run, run, run, as fast as you can to a reputable company. We are hoping some day, someone in the state of Ohio will look into this matter with HomEq.
Also to mention, they have an unsatisfactory record with the BBB.
Anyone who has information on a Class Action suit against this company, we would like to hear from you.
