Our new mortage was transferred from Wilmington Finance to HomEq in mid- October after one payment. When the November payment was due, our contact with HomEq revealed it had no record of the transfer — no account number, nothing... So we made our November payment to Wilmington Finance because Wilmington Finance was still our servicer of record.
On November 16, we finally received a HomEq statement, dated 11/08/05, with a payment due date of 11/01/05, showing two payments owed, with one past due. No payment is past due and the next payment isn't due until December.
Basically, this provider already has us as past-due one payment and owing two payments when we owe no payment at all.
Additionally, the statement is a litany of warnings and cautions concerning how easily the company can screw us if they choose.
A "Qualified Wrtten request" is on the way.
Consumers should have the right to refuse "service providers." As it is, we have no choice. Based on its record so far, I sure wouldn't do business with HomEq if I had any choice in the matter. Look like another Fairbanks Capital nightmare...
We'll see how this works out.
