I've had my Citibank card for about 6 years. Never had a late payment in all that time. Had to make many trips from California to Maryland to take care of my 80 parents. 5 trips in one year. Unfortunately this maxed out my credit card.
I knew my bills were out of hand so I contacted a Debit management company to help me lower the APR on my credit cards. I wasn't behind on any payments when I called them. They require that they pay all my bills every month instead of me sending them.
This worked great for 14 months, when I started getting calls from the credit card companies that I was 2 months behind in my payments. I tried to call the company, line disconnected. Cancelled the automatic withdraw with bank and contacted all my credit cards.
Took 401K loan to catch up. Most of the companies were very nice. Capitol One even lowered my APR to ZERO for 3 months to help me out. All except Citibank.
They increased my APR from 12.9% to 30.49%. They won't even talk to me about it. Just say tough and hang up. If you have Citibank, get rid of it. Past history means nothing to them. They are setting me up to fail.
