Mistreated and ripped off, outlandish ripoff late fees, the business that doesn't give a dam fraudulent ripoff business

I received a pre-approved credit card in the mail and it said I needed to call. I called Cross Country and when I asked them what it was about they said I needed to give them some information before they could tell me anything about it. I gave them the information and they said they would send me a card in the mail after I told them I was not interested.

Cross Country sent me the card with a 300.00 credit limit and along with the card a bill with a beginning balance of 40.00,10.00 monthly maintenance fee and 30.00 service charge. I called them and told them I did not want the card and they said I would have to pay it anyway so I kept the card. I did charge to almost 300.00 and cut the card up.

Cross Country since then has charged me monthly maintenance fees, late fees, and overlimit fees. They call my house no less than 3 times a day. On two seperate occasions they have drafted my checking account without permission and have caused numerous checks to bounce, costing me hundreds of dollars in service charges for returned checks.

When I tell them I cannot send the full amount but will send the regular payment of 70.00, they get mad and tell me that is not good enough and they will continue to call everyday until it is paid. These calls begin as early as 730AM and go on until 1100PM.

I was laid off due to the September 11th event and when I told them this they said they had several customers that had been affected by September 11th and were willing to help. They said they would send me some papers to fill out and it would allow them to remove any finance charges, late charges, maintenance fees, and overlimit fees. These papers were never sent and I have asked them for these on several occasions since and they still will not send them.

On 3-18-02 I received a bill with a balance of 758.46 (458.46 over my limit) and on 3-20-02 I called them to get the payoff amount and it was 791.11 (2 days later). I asked them to explain the difference in the amounts in the 2 day period and they could not tell me why the difference, only said it is the amount due. I feel as though they are doing things that are illegal operations.
