I was contacted on my cell phone about 3 weeks ago from a lady with a fairly heavy accent, offering me a grant of up to $11,000 if only i would committ to paying a $299.00 "processing fee". She asked me several questions, wanted to confirm my physical address etc... I told her i was not comfortable giving or confirming my personal information and requested that i be taken off of there solicitation list.
Today, oct 6th, I was contacted again on my cell phone and the same lady with the accent was telling me about the fabulous windfall i was to expect, because this time i was being offered $12,500, and it would deposited into my checking account on oct 19th.
I told her that i was still not interested and that she had called me before etc. She denied ever having called me and that i was mistaken. I quoted back some of the information that i was told last phone call, the $299.00 processing fee etc. She told me that "was absurd" and that they would never charge that much... She insisted that i give her my checking account number and that i would only pay $50.00... I told her that i would again have to decline and asked for a website address to confirm this information, which i looked up while she was still on the phone with me. I was linked to the Winterpark Police Dept web page which warned of this scam.
I immediately brought this to her attention and she became very beligerant and abrasive. She told me to just tell her i wasnt interested instead of accusing her of scamming people. I then asked her again to remove me from their list and hung up on her.
