Well about an hour ago I got a call from American Grant Information Center and I was told that I was approved for a $5,000 Grant. The lady then asked me if I knew what a Grant was and I said no because I wanted to know if she knew. She said a grant was an amount of free money that I never have to pay back.
She then ask if I was interested in getting this so called grant and I had to say yes. As you can see I am 19 years old unemployed and a full time student so I needed the money for student loans. She then asked me what I would be using the money for and I told her my student loans and she asked me what I was going for and I said Multimedia. She then told me if I filled out the papers she was going to send correctly I could get up to 25000 dollars.
She asked me some more personal things like Name, Address, and Phone number. She the started asking me about my bank account. I was so disappointed because I am already broke as it is and I mean it I only have $5.39 in my bank account now. I asked if I was going to need to pay anything for this and she said NO. She said to me you know that no one is allowed to take money out of your account with out your permission. I said yes and I did the unthinkable I gave her my account info.
She gave me her name which is Rebecca Williams and her Employee ID which is AG51620. Then she started to give me information about the company American Grant Information Center Phone number 1-866-454-4564 but the caller ID showed 866-415-5154 web address www.americangrantinfoguide.com.
She told me that their was going to be a $249.00 processing fee or something and she wanted to know when I could pay it and I told her not anytime soon and she said could I give her a date. I said maybe 4/25/05 but I wasnt for sure and I asked if I could change my mind before then and she said yes but she wanted to know if I could pay any sooner and I told her I wasnt working.
She said ok and the connected me with some guy that was going to give me a number. He started to play some tape of a lady asking personal info. I told them everything until they asked for my checking account again. I then hung up.
They called back and my mom got the phone and told them I was not interested and I think the lady asked why and mom said because she doesnt have the money. She said if I had the money I wouldnt need the grant I guess the lady got mad or something I dont know. My mom is kinda mad at me for doing something so stupid.
I dont know if I should go close my checking acccount or not but I guess I better because everyone here has. This site really helps. I hope I can help other people before they do something stupid like that. I guess greed really can get you. I will update as soon as I get more info or another phone call.
