Unfortunately I became victim to this company February of this year when they were still known as Ameriquest, now AMC. At first I thought everything was great. I paid no money out of pocket, not even for the appraisal. But then when it came time to sign the papers, I felt a little uneasy. But I feel uneasy about everything, so I decided to do it anyway. They closed the refinance in less 10 days... Wow. But the weird thing was, no one really ever came to appraise my house, but Ameriquest said it was appraised and everything was good. The cost of the appraisal that never happened was added into the enourmous closing costs.
I was also told I could bi-monthly payments in order to keep the interest down on the loan, but after signing, I came to find out that the bi-monthly thing would be very difficult to do and I had to pay a month and half in advance in order to even do it. So, of course, I was not happy about that. I decided instead to have it taken out of my account on the first of the month to help somewhat with the interest. This was fine until I found out, from my first bank statement, that they weren't even taking it out on the first, it was the second or sometimes the third or later (not counting the weekends of course). So again this did not make me very happy, they were screwing me out of interest payments.
Also, before my loan started, I switched my home insurance, and it was alot cheaper than before. I tried to tell AMC that my insurance was cheaper so my escrow payments should be cheaper. After a week of not even being able to get ahold of anyone because my loan hadn't been processed yet, so I didn't exist to them yet, I finally got through and they told me it was too late to make changes since they just got everything finalized.
On a more recent note, I am working with another company to buy some investment property. They company was going to refinance my current home again and add the loan for the other property. All I needed to get from AMC was my payoff amount. After two weeks of arguing with several different people, I finally got what I wanted. I initially made the request on their website. The next day I received a fax, and it wasn't even my loan. They sent me someone else's loan information. I called to report the error, and they told me this sometimes happens, so I needed to fax in my correct loan number. Well, they faxed it to me again, and it was the same wrong loan as before (I am sure that the owners of the loan would not be very pleased that their information was sent to me, not once, but twice). So, I called once again. I was told that my information was being mailed. Well it never came and never came so I called again. They kept telling me it was mailed. I told them I wanted it faxed and they told me they would get it to me right away. After calling every day for a week, I still have not gotten the fax, even after sending them a fax to request a fax. This all started on August 31 and today, Sept. 13, I finally received the information by mail, which I was told was mailed out on Sept. 2.
So all this time I have been paying unnecessary interest on a loan that should have been payed off by now, and through the entire process, I was lied to more than once, and delt with many rude people in the process.
I will be very glad when I can get completely away from this company for good, and there is no way in hell would I ever refer anyone to AMC Mortgage Services, Inc.
