My husband and I decided to purchase a manufactured home to be our first home together. It was financed through Greentree Financial later Conseco Financial.
We lived in this home for about three years, sometimes our payment was late, but it was always made.in February we had a baby and I forgot to mail the payment. It was about a month late before I remembered I mailed it right away. About a week later I received repo papers in the mail.
I called our lawyer that we had through our Chapter 13 and they informed us we could only kept the mobile home if we paid the next six months of payments and Conseco attorney fees, which came to about $3000. There was no way we could pay so 30 days later we were in an apartment. Six months down the road the trailer is still setting there.
I called Conseco and asked them when they were going to pick it up and they asked me why I haven't been paying the payments. I informed them of the repo papers and they said "Well we know nothing about that. You were not behind on your payments".
They tried to get us to move back into the trailer. We refused to go back into the situation, but all along we would never have had to move. I don't understand how they can repo something without giving you notice your behind on your payments. We had to move out on Easter Sunday with a newborn just because of someones mistake.
I will tell everyone I can not to go through Conseco for financial assistance.
