I have been a customer of US Bank for 8 years. I have never had problems with bad checks or overdrawn accounts. I tend to check my account on a weekly basis.
Last week I receive a postcard showing 8 transactions that were overdrafts with a $25 charge each! I called to see what on earth could be wrong since the check I had deposited had posted a week before any of the transactions and there was more than enough money in my account at any given time to cover those purchases and bill payments.
The rep I spoke to did nothing but contiuously repeat the same thing to me. She said "see the avilable balance when your looking at your account online? See how when you click it theres an available balance and available funds? Well you didn't have money in the acccount to cover the transactions." I explained to her that she surely didn't think I was stupid enough to make several purchases and payments if I knew there wasn't money in the account because I would have overdraft fees.
As I cried my eyes out to her, she spouted out her same statement over and over. She said the most she could do was refund 3 transactions. (WOW $75 back, what about the other $125?!) I told her that I found it humorous that if I suspect fraud on my account its my responsibility to contact them IMMEDIATELY concerning this matter, but that when my account supposedly goes into overdraft, they notify me by mail a few days later.
She said there was no way they could give a courtesy call to every customer concerning that, and I said "of course not, that would be good customer service, I don't matter to you as a customer, just as an account that you can make money off of!"
If anything comes of this, I'd like to know about it-its unfair and unjust!
